IGU Gender and Geography Commission Call for Organised Sessions, Papers and Posters, Quebec 6-10 August 2018
The Gender and Geography Commission of the IGU invites Calls for Papers and
Session Sponsorship requests for paper presentations, panels and
posters
for the upcoming Regional IGU 2018 in Quebec City (August 6 – 10, 2018) See attached, and
http://igu2018.ulaval.ca/
The Gender and Geography Commission’s central theme is ‘A continuing agenda for gender: respecting difference, fostering dialogue’. The theme highlights the continued push that geographers must make to create more space for pluralism, by strengthening comparative work between North and South/East and West, and by increasing collaborative efforts among geographers across international and sub-disciplinary boundaries, as well as generations. We continue to foster dialogue on the intersection of gender with other identities that play a role in the experience of place, such as age, social class, ethnicity, sexuality, ability and others. Please see
https://igugender.wixsite.com/ igugender
We are interested in papers, panels and posters that deal substantially with
genders, including but limited to these topics:
– Feminist and queer theories, politics, methods and approaches;
– Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) identities, communities and politics;
– Heterosexualities, heteronormativities and homonormativities;
– Practices and spaces of desires, reproductions, intimacies, and relationships;
– Couples, families, single people and other forms of organizing kinship,
social-sexual lives; and
– Indigenous genders and sexualities.
AND their intersections with:
– Race, gender, class, dis/ability, religion;
– colonialism and imperialism;
– Nation-building;
– Migration and im/mobility;
– Policymaking;
– Labour activisms;
– Socio-economic inequalities;
– Health and social services; and
– Theory building
Please consider having the Gender and Geography Commission co-sponsor your IGU sessions. E
